Be Conscious of the Opportuned Time

Scripture: LUKE 4: 12-13

Luke 4:12 And Jesus answered and said to him, “It has been said, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’”

 Luke 4:13 Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.

Reflection.

Scripture notes that Jesus experienced temptations: the enticement and draw of sin. Most of those would have been normal human experiences brought about by living in a fallen world. Beyond those, Luke has detailed intense, direct pressure from Satan, who tried to lure Jesus away from God’s will (Luke 4:1–12). Scripture also indicates that Jesus did not give in to temptations; further, it teaches that temptations, themselves, are not sin (Hebrews 4:15). However, there’s an important observation I noticed from these verses I would like to share with you.

Let’s consider the Phrase- “it has been said.”

EXPLANATIONS.

Let’s take a quick look at verse 4 and 8 in Luke 4; you will notice a common phrase such as: “it is written”, while in verse 12 of today’s scripture the phrase is different, which is (it has been said).

The devil came twice to tempt Jesus, but He (Jesus) defeated the devil twice by saying what was written (it is written). But when the devil came the third time to tempt Jesus, this time He did not only say what was written but told the devil what was said in the word.

And the bible records in verse 13 of todays Scripture that the devil departed from Him until an opportune time or paraphrase as an opportunity to strike.

 LESSONS;

It is not enough as a Christian, Spirit filled to only know what is written in the bible, but to DAILY DIGEST it and always speak aloud what is said to challenges that may come your way and it will be done because challenges cannot withstand what is said in God’s word when you speak aloud by faith.

Finally, not because you defeated the devil last week and he left doesn’t guaranty the fact that he won’t return….”the devil departed from Him until an opportune time.” He waits for an opportune time to strike. Therefore, we should have the Word of God that is said always to defeat the devil and not with our skilled experiences.

 Prayer.

O LORD: HELP US TO DIGEST YOUR WORD, SUCH THAT IT COMES OUT NATURALLY AS A DEFENCE IN TIMES OF CHALLENGES IN OUR LIVES IN JESUS NAME, AMEN. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
