Conquering Prayerlessness


Scripture: Ephesians 6;18

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;” KJV.


Today, as we critically evaluate some ideas regarding “how to conquer prayerlessness,” I believe we come to the conclusion regarding How to combat prayerlessness. So, let’s go!

The result of our sinful nature, old man, and the flesh is a lack of prayer. The Holy Spirit is causing our new man to lack prayer. A strong prayer life filled with dramatic answers is always the work of God in and through us, so we can never take pride in our prayer lives. Praying at all times in the spirit with all supplication and prayer is what the Holy Spirit does, according to the Bible. In order to achieve this, stay vigilant and persistently implore the help of the saints. in Ephesians 6:18

The Holy Spirit works with us as we try to learn how to pray. Similarly, the Spirit supports us when we are weak because we don’t pray as much as we should. However, the Spirit Himself prays on our behalf, groaning inexpressibly. Rom. 8:26

Christ responded by directing the disciples to the Holy Spirit when they asked Him to teach them how to pray. “Lord, guide us in prayer.” How much more will your Heavenly Father grant requests for the Holy Spirit? Luke 11:1,13. The Holy Spirit enables us to pray continuously because He is a praying Spirit. Say “Pray without ceasing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17b

Christ made it possible for His disciples to pray for an hour when He instructed them to do so for one hour. Could you not watch for an hour with me? Matthew 26:40 says to watch and to pray so that you won’t succumb to temptation.

In conclusion, we gain knowledge on how to combat lack of prayer. Then, make sure to put what you learn into practice and stay away from what needs to be avoided.

1- The sate of not praying is called prayerlessness.

2- We stop praying when we have little desire to fellowship with God.

3- The causes of prayerlessness are distractions, unbelief, discouragement, and stubborn hearts.

4- When we stop praying, we end up becoming stressed. We also lack joy and the desire for God.

5- Now, prayerlessness may not look like such a big deal in the beginning, but it has far-reaching consequences.

6- Prayerlessness is a symptom of backsliding, and it limits the manifestation of God’s children in the world.


The good news is that you are now aware of how to combat lack of prayer and restart our prayer life. By strengthening your faith in God’s Word, keeping in mind God’s faithfulness throughout the years, and concentrating on the reward, you can overcome the spirit of prayerlessness. Additionally, you ought to be aware of the significance of prayer, heed each nudge from the spirit to pray, consult a spiritual advisor, and implore God’s strength.


May our good Lord continue to help us grow in His Word to becoming a prayerful believer rather than remaining prayerless, amen.
