Spiritual Oxygen

Text: Judges 16: 15-31

Verse 16- “And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death.”

Hey! I want to continue the fantastic theme and topic we started yesterday, and I think we should end it today with a different story from the same author. Today’s scripture is a different passage from the book of Judges that tells the tale of Samson and Delilah. The tale of Samson and how he misplaced his anointing may have different interpretations and meanings. I did, however, find this from – Encourage the kids to realize that while physical prowess is good, spiritual prowess is far more crucial. Make the point that while some people can’t build up their physical strength, anyone who tries can do so by keeping covenants and following commandments.

Let us consider this true-life story and continuation from yesterday. Thirteen foreign divers and five Thai navy seals guided the 12 trapped players, aged 11 to 16 and their 20year old coach out of the cave complex mixed with water & mud. The boys were held close to divers and remained motionless for parts of the journey where they had to dive. They were then carried on stretches through dry parts to the cave’s entrance. Saman Kuman, 38, a former member of the elite navy seals unit, was the only casualty in a multinational operation to save the 12boys and their 25year-old coach after being trapped in the cave they were exploring in northern Thailand.

Here is what his wife named Valeepon, told the rescued boys; “I want to tell the boys, please don’t blame yourselves.” And those words captured the attention of the world. He died to save others! He gave others oxygen but his own ran out. Since yesterday, the Holy Spirit has been using this story to drop a timely warning to a reader of “Daily Digest.” Keep your Spiritual Oxygen Tank Full, Fresh and Always ready! Your oxygen tank is the oil, the fresh anointing and the filling process is through your regular disciplined prayers, fasting and study of the Word.

Do you know that millions are seeking the anointing of God instead of the God of the anointing? Yes! Their motives are wrong! According to Charles Spurgeon- “Never try to live on the old manna, nor seek to find help in Egypt. All must come from Jesus, or thou art undone forever. Old anointing will not suffice to impact unction to thy spirit; thine head must have fresh oil poured upon it from the golden horn of the sanctuary, or it will cease from its glory.” In order words, “Do not be satisfied (complansant) with past experience. Seek to have a new revelation of Christ to your soul. Seek the renewed application of His precious blood to your conscience.

In conclusion, Samson was unaware that his oxygen supply had run out! He wasn’t using any new oxygen! Actually, before passing away in the Philistine temple, he “died” on Delilah’s laps. I implore you to take note of Samson’s error! Spend time with the God of the anointing from now on! Avoid being too sleepy and the spiritual sluggishness around you by BEING FRESH! Let your sleep be like the cracked alabaster oil box (Mark 14:3). When a TV, meal, or body is broken and crushed, a sweet aroma will release.

Pray about the topic of today as you are led now, in your own words. In the name of Jesus, I ask the Holy Spirit to fill me with new fire, baptize me with new oil, and pour new wine over me. My supply of spiritual air will never run out! In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen, I receive grace to finish the race and more.
