Giving, as a Method of Receiving

Giving, as a Method of Receiving

Scripture: St. Luke 6:38

KJV: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Give and it shall be given to you, says the verse, which you have probably heard misquoted quite a bit. They will put a good measure into your lap, pressing it down, gathering it together, and running over (Luke 6:38, NASB). This verse seems to be cited most frequently in relation to one subject: giving money to the church or to God.

Hey, friends! In a moment, let’s pause and consider what God the Father gave. Even though the silver and gold are entirely his, I’m sure He didn’t give out any money. According to the verse in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” According to this verse, giving should include everything that is worth even more than the money that God has given you.

According to, “Giving can also apply to spiritual matters. Jesus challenges us to swap out judgment and condemnation for charity and the decision to forgive (Luke 6:37). Given what God has given us, we should be especially quick to give these spiritual blessings (Ephesians 4:32).

Furthermore, according to the biblical verse, “For with the same measure that you measure, it shall be measured back to you,” whatever we do to others may either bring us blessings or curses. According to the gospel of today, there is a concept known as interconnectedness. If we experienced love before sharing it, then we already have.

I wondered how different our interpretations of this biblical passage might be. Anyway, after giving it some thought, I still think God’s principles of giving and receiving are evident. You can choose to believe this or not, but I have chosen to do both, and it has proven to be effective for me. I therefore urge you to follow my example.

However, the second part of that verse stresses that you should give in the same way that you receive. As a result, I urge us to pay close attention to that, as the majority of us hold the belief that if givers never lack, then why do I? You ought to pay close attention to how you gave. Alternatively put, the spirit with which you gave.
