God’s Offer for Salvation

God’s Offer for Salvation

Scripture: Jonah 2:1-9

Jonah 2:9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.

The majority of the Bible verse for today is found in verses 1 through 9. But we’re concentrating on verse 9. I realize that God did not count on Jonah to deliver Nineveh. The message is still the same for each of us today: if you have put your faith in God for salvation, he has saved you rather than just made it possible.

Jonah muses on the favour that God showed him when he prayed to him and put his faith in him during a difficult time. He issues warnings and exhorts people to remain close to God. Let’s examine Jonah’s message: “God deals with us when we disobey His will. Jonah is an excellent illustration of both how we should listen to God and how God responds to His own when they don’t.

Let’s focus more on “LISA M. SAMRA” thought, though. Jonah described how, despite his best efforts to flee from God, God pursued him in his beautiful poem. Jonah cried out to God in prayer and turned toward His love when he realized that his situation had overwhelmed him and that he needed to be saved (2:2, 8). Jonah’s Assyrian adversaries as well as himself were saved by God in response (3:10).

I’ll leave you with this thought, though: Just as it is in the poem I just read, there may be times in our lives when we try to avoid God. Even at that point, Jesus still loves us and is actively reestablishing our connection to Him (1 John 1:9). He would certainly never abandon you. Keep in mind that whenever you feel He isn’t present because of the circumstance you find yourself in, He becomes more present because of that circumstance and is well aware that you cannot help yourself. You simply need to give yourself away at that point so He can use you.

When have you tried to run from God? How did He provide rescue?
