God’s Provision and Supply

Scripture: Philippians 4:19

“(NIV) And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”


Paul claims in Philippians 4:19 that God provides for all of our needs in accordance with the riches found in Christ Jesus. He claims that God has promised that we will be blessed as we take part in the gospel ministry.

Apostle Paul urged the Philippian church to be unified, joyful, and in prayer before verse 19. Additionally, he advised them to meditate on the Bible and practice the lessons they had learned from him. If they did so, the God of peace would be with them. Verse 9

However, the Apostle Paul first spoke in verse 19 about God’s provision before he gave an account of the Philippian Church’s benevolence. Verse 14 states that he advised them based on their performance to share in his distress. The Philippian Church did in fact offer their leadership a lot of encouragement and support. In verse 19, the apostle Paul joyfully proclaimed, “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”

Furthermore, I came to the conclusion that he will fulfill all of your needs if you put your trust in him, especially by giving for the sake of his mission. He will align your heart’s desires with what he is providing, even if some of your wants and desires are not from him.

So, for those who already give, keep doing so, and for those who have not yet, resolve to start taking good care of your spiritual leaders (ministry fathers, natural parents, etc.). All your needs will be met and supplied by God, not by man, as your reward for obeying God. Yes! God meets your needs through that man or other human, even though it might be through them.

Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power which is at work within us.” Keep that in mind. If you don’t mind, let’s discuss this verse in more detail tomorrow.


Dear Lord: please help us to always obey you in our tithes, offerings, and good seeds as you continue to supply all our needs according to your riches in glory by Christ Jesus, Amen.
