Great Thinking

Scripture: Proverbs 23:7- KJV

“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.”

Reflection.

My interpretation of the verse is as follows: “As he thinketh in his heart, so is he,” according to the KJV. Either interpretation teaches that a person who says, “Eat and drink,” but inwardly grumbles about the price, is betraying himself by using false words. He does not want you to consume his wine and food at his expense. He is unyielding.

Bibleref.com continues, “Scripture describes this type of host as “inwardly calculating.” Although he appears friendly, he does not genuinely wish his guest well. Either he regrets how expensive the food the visitor is eating, or he’s trying to trick the visitor into being taken advantage of. Someone wants to spit out what they’ve eaten when they realize the “hospitality” they’ve been extended was really an attempt at bribery or manipulation (Proverbs 23:8). The conversation and the time seem to have been wasted.

But despite how the year has gone thus far, I’m here to encourage you not to grow weary or give up on your dreams. You only need to think positively.

Let’s think about the main verse from today’s scripture. How does it make you feel? There are so many ways to read this verse, but I want you to pay attention to this: “People who receive encouragement and kindness will undoubtedly produce fruit that is good. Many leaders are unaware that their words reflect their hearts, or that “what is in a man comes out of the man,” in other words, “what is in a man comes out of the man.” One will speak evil when his heart is full of evil.

Your thoughts today determine who you are today and who you will be tomorrow. Yes! We recite this scripture frequently, if not every day. But have you really given this verse serious thought, especially when you’ve wanted to give up on life’s challenges and hustle and bustle? There is a saying that “it’s never over until it’s over.” Do your absolute best in whatever you are doing right now, and never give up hope. No matter how long it takes, as long as you are focused on your goal and think positively, it will eventually come true. What are you currently thinking about yourself? Think big and develop into the person God has planned for you.

Friends, I’m saying that we can change things around by making a small mental adjustment. In other words, even though your past thoughts may have seemed negative, why not think positively for the remainder of 2023, and become everything God has promised you for your life going forward?
