Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4:1

“Therefore, seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;”

The light of the gospel is discussed by Paul in 2 Corinthians 4:1–6. He clarifies that it is our duty as Christians to share the light, which is none other than Jesus. God’s glory is made known to us through Jesus (2 Corinthians 4:6). It is our duty to shine the light of Jesus in the gloom of this fractured world.

I would like us to see a few people from the Bible today who entered the ministry by the blood of Jesus.

1.Aaron and his sons entered the ministry through the blood.

A significant portion of Aaron’s and his sons’ consecration involved sanctification and purification rites involving blood and sacrifice. Nobody is deserving of the position of gospel minister. Grace and grace alone are the source of all we do and achieve for the Lord. Remember that Aaron, the High Priest, and his sons were only able to enter the ministry because of the blood, if you ever feel that you are being used because you are deserving or the good kind. Do you desire to be holy to preach the word of God? You can only become worthy or qualified for this wonderful work in one way. Through the blood, that is.

And THIS IS THE THING THAT THOU SHALT DO UNTO THEM TO HALLOW THEM, TO MINISTER UNTO ME in the priest’s office: Take one young bullock, and two rams without blemish, and unleavened bread, and cakes unleavened tempered with oil, and wafers unleavened anointed with oil: of wheaten flour shalt thou make them…………Exodus 29:1-21

2.People are made priests through the blood

The process for becoming a priest is the same in the New Testament. You can become a gospel minister through the blood of Jesus. Unworthy individuals like us can serve as ministers because of the blood of Jesus. Your salvation is the best gift you have ever been given. But to be called into the king’s service is the most incredible privilege you will ever experience. Serving as a gospel minister is the greatest honour and responsibility one could ever be assigned. John, the revelator, explained when he said we have been made priests by the blood of Jesus. What an honour! How precious this blood must be which both saves us and qualifies us for ministry.

And they sung a new song, saying, thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God BY THY BLOOD out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; AND HAST MADE US UNTO OUR GOD KINGS AND PRIESTS: and we shall reign on the earth. Revelation 5:9-10

3.Paul entered the ministry through the mercies of God and the blood of Jesus.

Therefore, having this ministry BY THE MERCY OF GOD, we do not lose heart. 2 Corinthians 4:1

Paul was just like the rest of us. He was against God’s will, a blasphemer, and a sinner. Nevertheless, God called him and qualified him to serve as a gospel minister. Apostle Paul could not have ministered the word of God unless there was a potent cleansing agent. He would need to be purified of all his numerous transgressions against God and the church by this potent cleansing agent. Indeed, Saul could be made clean and transformed into a new creature fit to serve as a gospel minister with the help of a potent cleansing agent. That powerful cleansing agent was nothing other than the blood of Jesus which taketh away the sins of the whole world. Today, the blood of Jesus is available to save you and to prepare you to work for God in the ministry. When you see how much mercy you have received you must never lose heart and stop working for God.

And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptations, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

Howbeit for this because I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Timothy 1:12-17

Finally No matter how much you have strayed from God or how little you have ever experienced God in your life, Jesus can accept you, cleanse you, and enable you to enter the ministry through His blood. Receiving him now is all that is required; the rest will become history.

Would you do that with me? Then, let’s pray!

Dear Lord! Please, come into my life right away! I have sinned against you, and I confess with all my heart that you are the Son of God and my father. Have mercy on me and help me grow in you daily, amen.
