Pointing to Jesus

Pointing to Jesus

Scripture: Hebrews 12:2

KJV- “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

NASB- “Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

This verse, like other passages in the book of Hebrews, is frequently quoted out of context, which reduces its significance. Understanding how this verse ends a crucial section in the book of Hebrews is essential to applying it in the way God intended.

As we explore this subject, there are a few words that I want you to pay close attention to. Author, Finisher are these words. Please allow me to briefly define these terms because I think it would make more sense if you knew what they meant according to the dictionary.

What Is an Author? Anyone whose written work has been published is an author. People who write are also considered authors if they come up with the concepts and ideas for their written work on their own. Most authors are writers because of this, though not all writers are thought of as authors.

What is Finisher? Let me give a biblical definition of a finisher using Apostle Paul as an illustration. Paul the apostle was a finisher. He was supposed to be put in chains in Jerusalem, but he didn’t let that stop him from completing the task that God had given him (Acts 21:10–12).

In my own words, I would define an author as someone who possesses something of value. A finisher, on the other hand, is someone who is committed to seeing a task, vision, dream, project, and so on, through to completion. Well, consider that our topic for today is “pointing to Jesus.” I was curious to know how you felt about this subject. I had this thought while meditating on this subject, and I’d like to share it.

My recent education includes “digital marketing.” Building lead generation websites, ranking them, and renting the sites to potential clients who might need leads and close business deals is one of the most important things I’ve learned. After purchasing a domain name and hosting it, one important consideration to bear in mind when developing these lead generation websites is to “point your domain name to your website.”

Some might ask if this is required in order to point your domain to your website. Yes! and I wholeheartedly agree. More importantly, if that straightforward but crucial step is skipped, your website cannot go live. However, the Bible encourages us to “fix our eyes” on Jesus, who is the “author” and “finisher” of our faith, in Hebrews 12:2 and from the NASB translation.

More specifically, if we do not “look unto Jesus”, “fix our eyes on Jesus” or “point to Jesus” as the author(owner) and finisher (one that should complete) of our faith (business, career, ministry, marriage, name it). Then, we can never “go live” (be prosperous, rich, wealthy, good Christians, do exploits……).

I now introduce to you JESUS, the author and perfecter of our faith. Simply pointing those to Jesus and living your life is the only way to connect your domain (business, career, ministry, etc.). AMEN.

Dear Lord, I acknowledge you as the author and finisher of my faith. I want to “go live” dear Jesus. Therefore, i have decided to point my domain to you as you help me do it, Amen.
