Reactions to Essential Circumstances

Reactions to Essential Circumstances

Scripture: St John 5:6-7

St. John 5:6 “When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, wilt thou be made whole?”

St. John 5:7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.

 Reflection.

Jesus inquires about the man’s desire to recover. The man explains that he is unable to enter the water because no one is available to assist him, and others dive into the water ahead of him. When Jesus instructs the man to pick up his mat or bed and walk, the man is immediately healed and able to do so.

Tradition stated that the first person submerged in the water after an angel disturbed or moved the pool’s waters (verse 4), would be completely healed. We are aware that people who were ill or had disabilities, as well as the “blind, halt, withered,” were drawn to the pool (verse 3).

Here is my takeaway from that tale, though. Jesus asked the crippled man a very straightforward question that required a clear Yes/No response. You can imagine how this man became so preoccupied with his circumstances that he forgot the reason he had spent so much time at the pool, which I believe was to be made whole. He answered Jesus completely differently than what Jesus had anticipated.

I’m unsure of how many people who are reading this message today are in that man’s position and have been waiting on God’s promises for all these years. Speaking the same words as Jesus, “WOULD THOU BE MADE WHOLE?” I am here to share good news with you. Also, I’m not sure of your responses just yet, but the lame man’s responses where exactly what Jesus didn’t need—his faith to get up and walk, not his responses.

I urge you to get up and start walking right away, no matter what situation you may be going through or are currently in. Do this by placing your faith in Christ Jesus. And because of that, I think your answer to that will be a resounding “Yes!” and “Amen!”

Come on friends! Let’s do what we couldn’t do before and by faith now.

 PRAYER

Dear LORD, I agree to your word in St. Matthew 18:18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

St. Matthew 18:19 Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

As a result, I connect my faith to that of everyone who reads this message today and, in the future, and I declare “Victory” over stagnation, death, sin, and anything else that has kept us at the pool for so long. May we have sturdy feet that can stand up and move on to the next level. In the name of Jesus, Amen, we accept these prayers with “Thanksgiving” in our hearts.
