THE MANNER IN WHICH THE BLOOD AND THE SPIRIT COOPERATE TO ACHIEVE THE SAME GOALS

THE MANNER IN WHICH THE BLOOD AND THE SPIRIT COOPERATE TO ACHIEVE THE SAME GOALS

Scripture: 1 John 5:8

And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

Reflection.

The identities of the three witnesses are added in this verse, which also highlights their agreement. Between the end of verse 7 and the start of verse 8, there is a textual dispute. A witness on earth is mentioned in the Textus Receptus, which was used to translate the King James Version. This reading is absent from the oldest manuscripts, although it is present in later handwritten Greek manuscripts. Moreover, it was added to the Textus Receptus later in the publishing process, not in the initial versions.

The Spirit performs many of the functions that the blood of Jesus does as well. This is how we can be certain that the blood and the Spirit work in unison to bring about great things for God. In their spiritual labour, the spirit of God and the blood of Jesus are fully united. Let’s examine the lessons this verse has taught us.

1.Both the blood and the spirit agree and are united in their work.

And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. 1 John 5:8

2.Both the spirit and the blood give life.

Whoso eateth my flesh, and DRINKETH MY BLOOD, HATH ETERNAL LIFE; and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:54

It is THE SPIRIT THAT QUICKENETH; the flesh profited nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63

3.Both the spirit and the blood bring you near to God.

But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are MADE NIGH BY THE BLOOD of Christ. Ephesians 2:13

For through him we both have ACCESS BY ONE SPIRIT unto the Father. Ephesians 2:18

4.Despising the spirit and despising the blood are seen as one and the same thing.

Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden underfoot the Son of God, and hath COUNTED THE BLOOD of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, AN UNHOLY THING, AND HATH DONE DESPITE UNTO THE SPIRIT OF GRACE? Hebrews 10:29

This verse, in its entirety, presents three witnesses to the truth: the Holy Spirit, Christ’s baptism in water, and Christ’s substitutionary death through His shed blood. As a result, you might be missing something as a Christian or believer if you have not identified yourself with these three actions.

Prayer.

Daddy! The three crucial details regarding the Spirit, Water, and Blood have been taught to us. Amen. I pray that whoever reads this message will not overlook the importance of this lesson and that the Holy Spirit will reignite our desire to learn more about you.
