THE OPPRESSED OR PERSECUTED CHURCH(SMYRNA)

THE OPPRESSED OR PERSECUTED CHURCH(SMYRNA)

SCRIPTURE: REVELATION 2:8-11

Revelation 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

REFLECTION:

Today’s verse of scripture reminds us about the tribulations the Church is going through, has gone through, and will go through.  It is either now or later(future), but most definitely, there will be some tribulations for the church.

Some may have experienced it before now, while some will experience sometime in the future. (Remember, the Church is not the building, but you and I).

However, there’s good news in verse 10 which i believe God assures his Church not to be afraid of those things which thou shalt suffer, (see verse 10)- *Fear none of those things(tribulations).*………

Therefore, what can we learn from the church at Smyrna? I will summarize with a phrase I refer to as “Living as an Overcomer”. The believers in Smyrna were commended for being overcomers: They overcame the negative attacks of society. They overcame the intense pressure to reject Jesus. As a result, we as a church are reminded that despite the persecutions we go through or has gone through or will go through, there’s need to always live a life of the overwhelming overcomers because we do overcome by the blood of the lamb and by the words of our testimonies-Revelation 12:11.

“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the Churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death. (Please note, the second death is eternal condemnation, it involves your Soul regarding eternity)

 PRAYER:

DEAR GOD: PLEASE, GRANT US THE GRACE TO OVERCOME PERSECUTIONS AS AN INDIVIDUAL FAMILY, CHURCH FAMILY (the body of Christ), so that we may not be hurt of the second death. So, help us o God, Amen.

Please share…. God bless you all.
