The Power That Brings Salvation

The Power That Brings Salvation

Scripture: Romans 1:16

KJV: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and to the Greek.

NIV: For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

Romans 1:16 serves as a reminder that the Jewish people have a specific calling and goal. In fact, many of us will argue that it is inappropriate to refer to us as Jews when we are Canadians or Nigerians. Friends, it is irrelevant where you are from or what colour clothing you are wearing. What matters is that, if you are saved by grace through faith in Jesus and the gospel, you have a special calling to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ, just like a Jew and everyone else.

However, what does the power of God unto salvation means?

It enables you to live victoriously in spite of sin and frees you from the grip of it. No matter how bad you are, God can still change you, according to the gospel. The ability of God to change lives is revealed in the gospel. A sinner is delivered from sin and restored to righteousness and holy living by the gospel.

I’d like to wrap up by asking you some personal questions about the gospel you have been following for so long. Because of what it is, it is personal.

1-What effort do you put into spreading the gospel of Christ daily as a believer?

2- Are you ashamed to be identified as a believer in your environment, (place of work, school, etc.)?

3- Can your colleagues, friends, associates, etc, identify you as a believer?

Good friends, I could keep asking questions forever, but I think the most important thing is to boldly proclaim the gospel of Christ whenever, wherever, and however you can. Keep in mind that the message of Christ Jesus is the only thing that has the ability to keep you saved. Because THE END IS NEAR, I urge you to preach this gospel every day.
