The Profession of Faith

Scripture: Hebrew 10:23

“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;”

In order for you to fully comprehend what I would be saying, here is what has to say about the book of Hebrew: The Jewish Christians who were being persecuted were the original audience for the book of Hebrews. The pressure to return to a simpler, more widely practised religion was great. especially Judaism. The majority of the letter up to this point has focused on providing justifications for the conviction that God’s ultimate salvation strategy for mankind centres around Jesus Christ, not the old covenant priesthood. This viewpoint (Hebrews 3:14) contributes to the advice to “hold fast” that is given here. We should resist the pressures of anything that tries to pull us away from Christ because He is the fulfillment of God’s will for mankind.

I have no doubt that God wants to strengthen someone’s faith, or perhaps I should say that God is actively engaged in strengthening our faith. So, remain steadfast in your faith.

The author reminds us that God made the promises and that he is faithful right here in this verse. We gain the fortitude and vigour to carry out unexplainable deeds when we steadfastly cling to the confession of our hope. We want to lead lives that are more complex than just the life of Jesus.

In addition, I questioned the use of the term “profession” to describe faith. According to the Oxford Dictionary, a “profession” is a paid occupation, particularly one that requires extensive training and a formal credential. For instance, “his chosen profession was teaching.”

I learned that a profession of faith is “a personal and public statement of a belief or faith” from Wikipedia. Additionally, it refers to the act of professing, avowal, or making a statement, whether true or false: professions of dedication and the affirmation of acceptance of a religion or a faith, such as Christianity.

But here’s what I believe: if the Bible calls “faith” a profession, it follows that there should be a salary, certification, pay day, and other benefits.

As a result, as believers, we should VALUE our faith as a calling that will someday be recompensed. In other words, “hold fast the profession of your faith without wavering;” for God is a faithful God who always keeps His word. Common, men! In light of the fact that MY GOD CAN NEVER LIE; HIS WORD MUST SURELY COME TO PASS, consider the promises you first heard from God in His word at the beginning of this year. They will undoubtedly be fulfilled.
