UNDERSTANDING HOW PEOPLE ENTER THE IMPERFECT WILL OF GOD

Reflection. Today, I’d like to share with you about “Understanding how people enter the imperfect will of God.” Let’s see some ways how people could enter the imperfect will of God. 1. PEOPLE ENTER THE IMPERFECT WILL OF GOD BY NOT ACCURATELY HEARING THE VOICE OF GOD. 1 Samuel 3:7 It is important to be able to hear when God speaks. If you cannot tell when God has spoken, then you are going to be in serious trouble. That is why the art of hearing God’s voice is crucial to your survival. It is only when you have developed the art of hearing that you can be in the perfect will of God. Many people are in the imperfect will of God because they do not and cannot hear when God speaks. 2. PEOPLE ENTER THE IMPERFECT WILL OF GOD BECAUSE GOD ALLOWS MEN TO HAVE A FREE WILL. John 1:12 Amazingly, God does not force anyone to love Him or serve Him. God respects your will or decision to go to Heaven or to Hell. If you decide to do something against His will, He will respect your decision and allow you to destroy yourself. The prodigal son was allowed to leave the home because the father knew better than to keep an unwilling and rebellious son at home. Jesus came to this world to save us all. But He respects the will of the people to accept His salvation or to reject Him. “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil” (John 3:19). People will be condemned because light came to the world, but they freely chose the darkness. 3. PEOPLE ENTER THE IMPERFECT WILL OF GOD BECAUSE THEY WANT TO BE LIKE OTHERS. 1 Samuel 8:4-5 Wanting to be like others is the most dangerous desire a man of God can have. Wanting to be like others will lead you to reject God and His will. Jesus said, “I receive not honour from men” (John 5:41). 4. PEOPLE ENTER THE IMPERFECT WILL OF GOD BECAUSE THEY ARE PRESUMPTUOUS. 2 Chronicles 26:16-20 To be presumptuous is to arrogantly assume that privileges must be given to you. Uzziah wrongly assumed that because he was the king, he had the right to do the work of priests. We often assume that we know the will of God because He has used us in the past. When we become presumptuous, we assume that our ideas are God’s ideas, and our will is God’s will. Arrogance and pride lead us into error and into the imperfect will of God. No matter who you are you are still a man, and your will is not necessarily God’s will. You must seek the will of God. 5. PEOPLE ENTER THE IMPERFECT WILL OF GOD BY RESTING TOO QUICKLY. 2 Samuel 11:1 Do not rejoice too quickly or assume the airs of a champion. This is a sure sign that you will be destroyed soon. David rested, and did not go out to war, even though it was a time for war. This single moment of relaxation caused him to enter the imperfect will of God. The imperfect will of God became one of the darkest phases of his life and ministry. 6. PEOPLE ENTER THE IMPERFECT WILL OF GOD BECAUSE OF THEIR IMPATIENCE. Exodus 32:1 (NLT) Patiently waiting for the will of God will make you bear much fruit for the Lord. If the people had patiently waited for Moses to come down from the mountain, they would never have entered the forty-year wilderness phase of their lives. Being in the wilderness for forty years was not the perfect will of God. Forty years in the wilderness was the imperfect will of God that was imposed on the children of Israel because of their impatience. May you be delivered from having a wilderness season thrust upon you because of impatience! WHEN THE PEOPLE SAW HOW LONG IT WAS TAKING Moses to come back down the mountain, they gathered around Aaron. “Come on,” they said, “make us some gods who can lead us. We don’t know what happened to this fellow Moses, who brought us here from the land of Egypt.” 7. PEOPLE ENTER THE IMPERFECT WILL OF GOD BECAUSE OF HUMAN MANIPULATION. Genesis 16:21 Trusting in God is not easy. We are often tempted to do something to change things. God knows best. You must trust Him and believe that all things work together for good. And Sarai said unto Abram, behold now, the Lord hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, GO IN UNTO MY MAID; It may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai. Prayer. Dear Lord! Please, help us to remain in your perfect will and not turn away from it, amen. Please share! REF: BISHOP DAG HEWARD-MILLS

Scripture: Ephesians 5:17 (NASB)

“So then do not be foolish but UNDERSTAND what the will of the Lord is.”

1. PEOPLE ENTER THE IMPERFECT WILL OF GOD BY NOT ACCURATELY HEARING THE VOICE OF GOD. 1 Samuel 3:7

It is important to be able to hear when God speaks. If you cannot tell when God has spoken, then you are going to be in serious trouble.
