Upgraded Vision

Upgraded Vision

Scripture: 1 Samuel 2:1-2

1 Samuel 2:1 And Hannah prayed, and said, my heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies, because I rejoice in thy salvation.

1 Samuel 2:2 There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.

Yes, it appears you are familiar with this passage. I also think Hannah’s prayers are uplifting for you.

However, there is one thing I want you to remember about “Upgraded Vision” today. Why do I say that? Hannah’s prayer in 1 Samuel 2:1-2 shows a change in her attention. Hannah’s renewed vision altered her outlook and attitude even before her situation got better. She was glad that God, her Rock and everlasting Hope, was still with her.

I’ll leave you with these considerations, though: How will placing your attention on God’s immutable character rather than your current situation give you more hope? Where do you struggle with spiritual nearsightedness right now?

What is the significance of Hannah’s prayer?

I noticed that Hannah’s prayers contained a lot of ideas, and I’m sure that many people may have different important viewpoints. However, this is what I was able to find on She says that during her prayer, she “poured out her soul in deep sorrow and great anguish. And after she is done praying, she walks away quietly. Hannah shows her faith by acting in accordance with God’s will, even when it requires a significant personal sacrifice. She has yearned for this child, and she cherishes him in the way that only a mother can.

Another thing I’d like you to consider is whether we ever said something silly like, “God why me?” when we were struggling as Christians. Do I really have to be abandoned in such a way? Yes, we ask a lot of questions during trials. Even Jesus questioned His Father on the cross, “Why have you abandoned me?” Jesus made the request, endured the suffering, and completed the race.

So, asking such questions during difficulties is not wrong, but would you be able to persevere like Hannah did? When you take joy in your sufferings, you can be sure that you will win because they are all only temporary.
