Scripture: 1 Peter 1:18-19

18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers.

19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

We discussed Jesus’ words and blood yesterday. It was intriguing to learn that, according to Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, the two most important things about Jesus Christ that I learned from my research are His Words and His Blood. I want to discuss some more reasons why Jesus’ blood is so valuable today.

Because Jesus’ blood is superior to all other types of blood, it is extremely valuable. The Bible mentions a wide variety of other types of blood. However, none of these possess the ability to deliver, heal, or save a person. Have you ever heard of a person’s sins being washed away by their own blood? Never do! The only thing that can cleanse our sins is the blood of Jesus Christ. Take note of the various types of blood that the Bible mentions. The blood of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who atones for everyone’s sins, is superior to all of these.

Blood from other people might have some power and a message to convey. For example, Abel’s blood cried out for vengeance and spoke of murder. And to the blood of sprinkling, which speaks of things better than those of Abel, and to Jesus, the mediator of the new covenant (Hebrews 12:24). However, the blood of Jesus Christ had far more power and spoke of better things.

The blood of saints and prophets calls out for punishment to be meted out to those who do not fear God (Revelation 16:6). The blood of bulls and goats is blood that is powerless to bring forgiveness (Hebrews 10:4).

God would undoubtedly punish Israel in some way if they shed their children’s blood. Losing the blood of prophets, saints, and martyrs would also carry a particular punishment. There is some meaning to the blood of martyrs, saints, and prophets. However, you can only be forgiven of your sins by the blood of Jesus. For this reason, the blood of Jesus Christ, and no one else’s, is the central theme of this message.

It’s critical to understand that certain types of blood cannot save lives. Indeed, the Bible mentions these names and blood, but none of it can save anyone save the Blood of Jesus.

1.The blood of Abel

That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the BLOOD OF righteous ABEL … whom ye slew between the temple and the altar- Matthew 23:35

2.The blood of saints and prophets for they have shed the BLOOD OF SAINTS AND PROPHETS, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy- Revelation 16:6

3.The blood of bulls and goats

For it is not possible that the BLOOD OF BULLS AND OF GOATS should take away sins-Hebrews 10:4

The Bible mentions several blood and names that could fill a long list. But only Jesus’ blood can save you; none of this blood can. The only way to receive this atoning blood of Jesus is to accept Him right now, wherever you are, by simply asking for forgiveness and allowing Him to guide you from this point forward.
